I was introduced to The Gospel at Colonus from its airing on PBS (a DVD was later released but no longer available). The story of Oedipus set to gospel music is irresistible. I saw it performed live in the 1990's, with some of the original cast including The Blind Boys of Alabama. It was one of the most memorable performances of anything I've seen. |
