Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1

OK, listened to "Tarkus" again. Sounds like an ELP album, but still not memorable for me. Lots of great piano. Maybe too much piano..

I'll give it another try, next year...

Hey @reubent! I like Side 1, especially like BATTLEFIELD’s wailing guitar and the finale AQUATARKUS. Liking the drums there, synth too.

@reubent

in reference to Tarkus I think the album comes together well as the whole package without having a standout song like a number of their other albums but think Emerson really shines on Tarkus. The drumming comes through excellent also. I’m a fan of all of their albums up until Works that I have mixed feelings about. My favorite being Pictures at an Exhibition.

I saw them live at a great stadium show during the mid 70’s also. They were one of the best in their time.
