Lucky to have seen him three times in concert. Was listening to Brunt Weeny Sandwich just a couple weeks back. One of my all time favorites of his. Too many great works to pick just one.

i finally couldn’t stand it and bought the Complete Hot Rats Sessions box….it IS occasionally excessive…but so was he….and I seriously doubt we’d be hearing it if he was still alive. RIP
Zappa was a genius, a serious atheist (I loved his biography), a great guitar player, a sexist creep, and for my tastes his music is essentially unlistenable pretentious nonsense.
Oops. What Metheny actually said is "Compared to Bach, we all suck." Zappa lacked even a trace of Metheny’s humility. But I feel for Zappa; loud bravado is often an outward sign of deep insecurity. Just look at Trump ;-) .
