Quad ESL service, Electrostatic Solutions or Quads Unlimited ?

  Hello,
My Quad ESL 63 US Monitors are finally needing help after 28 years of good service. Has anybody worked with Electrostatic Solutions or Quads Unlimited ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

???
There was a previous thread where the group apparently thought that Wayne Picquet was dead. . . he was apparently being sued by various parties for failure to deliver, and one guy said that he had died.  Regardless, I live about one hour from Orlando, and I was supposed to meet Mr Picquet at his shop, and the day of the meeting he never called to verify appointment location, and didn't answer my calls. . . it's all for the better, as I now own Sound Lab electrostatic speakers, which are worlds better than QUAD...

Sorry I got here late and the repair decisions have already been made but Russ Knotts at ESL Repair in Chardon, Ohio has replaced a number of panels in my 2905’s. It might be hard to persuade him to do future work on Quads as he’s getting a bit further up in years but he knows what he’s doing, without question.

One thing I’d like to pass on which may extend the life of Quad ESL’s except for the 57’s, is to turn them off after you’re done playing them and then turn them on about a half hour before listening to them again. This will not work for the 57’s because they need about a day and a half to fully charge.

Good advice about extending the life of the panels of most Quads., Kent at Electrostatic Solutions instructed me to turn my 63's off when not using just as goofyfoot shared . I wonder if the 57's after being redone by Kent would still need the extended charge time ?

@lanceman1 It might be possible to modify the 57's to charge faster but even if it were possible, there might side affects that render it too risky. And now that I remember it, Music Direct who was the USA distributor of Quad Audio and supplier of panels for the 63's to the present, is no longer handling Quad. So it may be a little tricky when it comes to replacing panels, like ordering them from Germany for example. I believe, if Quad were to up there craftsmanship/build quality and engage themselves with helping present owners resolve problems, that there speakers would begin to sell just as they had in the past. So anyone know how to find replacement panels, cause we're all going to need them eventually.
