What was the first power cable that you noticed a difference in the sound?
As usual, @atmasphere has the most informative, scientifically based posts and explanations with respect to electronics and audio equipment.
Maggies and subwoofer integration
@audiokinesis is probably the most expert in this subject. He has successfully integrated subs with planar speakers for many. While many think you need room EQ for subs, in my experience, just setting the position, low pass filter, and volume prop...
Starting a Classical Vinyl Music Collection
Best recorded Bach choral music on vinyl is conducted by Helmuth Rilling. His cantatas, Passions, etc are the best recorded on vinyl. Otherwise, in addition to Bach, just go through the alphabet: Beethoven, Brahms, Chopin for starters…for Chopin, ...
Where to go next with the turntable
Rega are great turntables for what they offer.  However, having moved on from Rega after having both a Rega P3 and P8, I would suggest trying a turntable with more leeway, namely one that allows installation of different tonearms, and one that sub...
Need a big favor picking a preamp
Sounds to me like you should audition the Ypsilon PST100 Mk2 pre amplifier.  I am very impressed with its balance, detail, and musicality.
New Phono Cart with Character Needed
With the Rega P3, you will always be rather limited. The Rega I dealer that I dealt with recommended Linn cartridges with Rega, and I can confirm that the Linn Krystal sounded much better than the stock Rega cartridge in my Rega P8. Try calling Ac...
Why it is so difficult to find a hifi power cables from IEC-C14 to IEC-C13 terminal?
You can find them, but they are more difficult to obtain.  However, as mentioned, you can just cut off the end of one cable that you like, but doesn’t fit, and solder on the end that you need.
RCA Victor records' quality
RCA Victor is the budget RCA label.  RCA IN LIVING STEREO recordings are the only good RCA recordings, which are mostly late 1950’s and very early 1960’s, as in the early 1960’s RCA went budget with their pressings, and used poor quality materials...
What are the audio differences you hear with turntable Mats.
I never heard a difference in mats with a Rega TT, either a P3 or P8. Perhaps the Linn is different though. Overall, if you’re looking for a change, a mat probably is not going to be a big difference: probably down at the bottom of the list along ...
Great classical pianists
Yes, as @magister notes:  my "favorite" pianist has probably changed more than 10 times over the past 30 years, so that leaves about 3 years per favorite pianist.  I remember when I first started listening to classical music, I only wanted to hear...
Great classical pianists
Over the past year, I’ve discovered another “classical” pianist, who does excellent “interpretive” work, as he prided himself on being a jazz pianist who played classical music: Samson Francois. Some of his Chopin interpretations are unparalleled,...
Not selling Cardas cables online again, just wanted to share.....
@dbt  Using PayPal Friends and Family does not cost either buyer or seller any fees, and the seller gets the full amount.  The reason that some buyers don’t want to use Friends and Family is that they have no recourse if they don’t get anything, ...
Passive preamps - differences between technologies
I can highly recommend the Ypsilon PST 100 Mk2.  It is a passive pre-amplifier that uses transformers to attenuate the sound:  very detaIled, nuanced, with minimal coloration.  It also has an active mode, which affects the SQ.  If you read article...
Phono Stage, Tonearm, Cartridge Question - Which is the most important?
If you can answer us this question, we can perhaps begin to answer yours: are your upper teeth or your lower teeth more important for chewing?
help choosing a turn table
Having been through the turntable / vinyl process over the past decade, I don't know that I would necessarily recommend it. . .but if you must, I would start with a Rega P3, or so.  However, the sound quality at these prices will never come close ...
