thin white rope, "exploring the axis"--you hear a bit of velvet underground and krautrock influence, but this is mostly very unique-sounding fountains of wayne, s/t--this sort of clever-pop can sound smarmy in the wrong hands (i.e. weezer), but these guys do it really well, with big hooks and a great guitar sound. "radiation vibe" is incredible. roy loney, "out after dark"--ex flamin groovie runs out of steam a bit on side 2, but side 1 is as tough a rockabillyish set as you'll ever hear |

The Police - Outlandos d' Amour It didn't take me long to play this one. Great album, darn good sonics. Al Di Meola - Splendido Hotel Al surely is a great guitarist! Kenny Burrell with Coleman Hawkins - Bluesey Burrell AP/QRP issue. I still find it hard to believe how much excellent sound was made in recording studios so many years ago. And AP gets these master tapes and gets every bit of information out of them. Excellent mastering, plating, and stamping. Excellent music! |
Earl Klugh-Crazy For You Side 2 Yes-Yesshows Side 2 Johnathan Edwards-ST Side 2 SQ Audiophile Teddy Pendergrass-Love Language Side 2 Three Dog Night-Seven Separate Fools(Probe UK) Side 1 Cedar Walton-Eastern Rebellion(repress) Side B SQ Audiophile Tim Weisberg 4-Side 1 SQ Audiophile BTO-ST Side 1 Was not planning a vinyl night it just happened. Weisberg 4 gets the SQ crown due to being more liquid(organic) then Eastern Rebellion and more relaxed then Edwards but all 3 have solid Audiophile SQ. BTO SQ was OK but the upper treble was MIA. Seven Separate Fools what a great discovery for me, since I only knew some of the Top 40 songs when I was in grade school. Midnight Runaway might be my favorite song from them.
