Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1

I don’t usually chime in here but took the afternoon to spin some new vinyl and am floored by Sarah Vaughn on Emarcy one of the acoustic sounds verve series records mastered by Ryan smith at sterling sound. This is jazz vocals at their best with an incredibly vivid sound straight from the studio in 1955. A must if you like this genre or want a compelling introduction.

Last Night:

Robert Wyatt - Rock Bottom
Loreena McKennitt - Live in Paris/Toronto
Dead Can Dance - Labyrinth
Spirit - Twelve Dreams of Dr Sardonicus
Luciano Berio - Sinfonia
Luciano Berio - Visage/Circles
New Music Ensemble - Logothetics: Culmination

Szell conducts Brahms - Piano Concerto No. 2 In B-Flat Major. The Cleveland Orchestra with Leon Fleisher, piano. Columbia Odyssey reissue 1973, originally 1962 mono (which I also have).

Ignaz Moscheles : Michael Ponti, piano

  • Piano Concerto In G Minor, Opus 58 with Philharmonia Hungarica, Othmar F. M. Mága conducting
  • Etudes, Opus 70 (Selected)
  • Characteristic Etudes, Opus 95 (Selected)

Candide 1969
