KEF LS50

Don't post often here but thought I would let you all know I stumbled on a pretty amazing performer in this little monitor.

I would say the midrange is on par with my Harbeth 40.1, treble has a tad more leading edge bite than the best soft dome but its a really good top end that never gets nasty. Dynamically they are performing way better than they should. I'm betting they would compete with the new 30.1 sonically, just a guess.

Have them running with 20X price electronics in a small office and they are not outclassed in any way. Made me want to keep throwing my best gear with them they sounded so good.

If you are in the market grab a pair, you will not regret. Saw two pair this morning for sale for around 1K, I can't think of anything in 20 years offering this much performance for 1K. You could build a world class non-full range sound around these.

Hi Soundqcar,

I did not ask the dealer if that was the case. He did mention that he had 4 pairs in stock, so I assumed the pair I was listening to was the same pair.

Perhaps I was having a bad hearing day??? This is why I will most likely demo them in house with my CJ gear. I am thinking of trying out some Merlins as well, though unsure if I can try before I buy.

The furthest away from the front wall I can tolerate is approx 3-4 feet. Have you experimented with this sort of placement with your kef's?

Does anyone think there may be fake LS50s for sale in ebay or similar sites?

Id like to add my bit,I've found these speakers on my system,like warmer cabling.And they shine really well.I believe they are worthy of class a rating.If they don't sound good on your system,maybe you haven't got the mix quite right.Hang in there,and you will hear the emotion and things you never herd before come out in spades,they did for me.

There's always a chance someone fabricates 'fake' products. If we all keep raving about the LS50s someone will surely try.
My question is if the anniversary model is any different than the new model they have for sale? I listened to the anniversary model at the dealer, loved them and bought a pair, but received the non-anniversary model (the flange on the woofer has different text for each module, so you can see it and understand what you have).
