Following the lead on a post from a few days ago. I hadn't played this one for quite some time. 

The Kinks - The Kink Kronicles 

1972 Reprise Records 

Early pressing that sounds surprisingly clean and with good SQ. 

I agree with @loomisjohnson on his assessment of Ray Davies' skills as a lyricist.

While Paul was writing love songs Ray was writing about life with songs like Shangri-La and Get Back In Line. 

Although, I may not be an impartial judge seeing how I was always a Lennon fan.
