Burt Bacharach has passed away

Another sad day.  What a talent.

R.I.P. Burt...thanks for the wonderful tunes!!!

As a kid in the late 60's/early 70's, it seemed like every non R&R pop song on the radio was a song  written by Burt Bacharach.

The Dionne Warwick/Bacharach albums were always on rotation in the big Grundig console.

Songwriters of his caliber are non existent.

94-definitely a good run, since he was still mentally sharp.

An outstanding artist and composer. Responsible for a surplus of superb tunes. An archetype of his era. All I can say is that, even when I was playing in a punk/new wave band, I'd still listen to Bacharach.

Handsome, talented, successful and married to Angie Dickinson, during the 1960s Bacharach seemed to have about as much any man ever did.

Of course the glamour couple of the 1960s were also no strangers to tragedy either, particularly in the case of their daughter Nikki whom they eventually lost to suicide after decades of struggle.

Bacharach was a true artist who was able to use personal trauma to give us some of the most beautiful music we have ever heard.

I think it's fair to say that no matter which lyricists Bacharach worked with, his music was always better than the words.

One of the greatest songwriters of all time (with due credit to the contribution of Hal David) in their purple period. Sadly missed but lives on in music.
