Mcintosh MC-1502 tube amp

The combination of B&W and McIntosh is classic. one of the most synergistic pairing for rock music. I would not worry.

I would make sure you like the sound of McIntosh. what is your preamp? As I said, it is really great for rock. There are large number of folks that like them… they are beautiful and hold their value. I personally do not like them, they lack details and balance… and I am not someone lusting for details.

If I were you, I would plan a road trip to a major city. Make advanced arrangements to hear one with a dealer. This will take the guesswork out of it. Bring your wife, take her to a show. Make it fun.

hi ghdprentice, thanks for your thought, I have owned a Class D Mcintosh MC-152 amp and recently been listening to their Class AB Mcintosh MC-462, in general I find their SS amps too relaxing (lack speed and dynamics) while at the same time not lush enough to duplicate the 300B tube like experience

I dont have experience with their tube amp hence curious to learn more

As above, ask McIntosh to recommend nearby dealers and listen for yourself.  Best Buy owns Magnolia, so you should be able to find any McIntosh products there. Opinions are a good place to start; however, your own listening experience is best.  McIntosh makes high quality durable equipment.  On the other hand, my Mac dealer experience has been a letdown.  I hope you find a good one.
