The Synergistic Research Orange Fuse ... Further thoughts.

Here are my observations after several weeks of burning in the new SR Orange fuses:

1. The sound has a more relaxed presentation. 

2.  Clarity - There is less grain. I thought I had this beat, but evidently not. 

3.  The soundstage has expanded further and instruments and performers are more well-placed inside the stage. The presentation is a lot more three-dimensional. 

4.  More articulation on voices. Vocals are more organically human in nature. While listening to Kevin Mahogany sing "Skylark," I hung on every note and word in the lyrics. Massed voices, like those heard on the Norman Luboff Choir's "But Beautiful" album, are more delineated. The solo instruments are more present than ever before also.

5.  There is a definite improvement in dynamics. Drum solos place the drummer right there in the room with you. Rim shots, bongos, congas and big bass drums are amazing. So are vibes. Cal Tjader and Victor Feldman ... Welcome to the party. 

6.  There has been a further improvement in tonal accuracy. String instruments have taken on a new dimension.  

7.   Among other improvements, there has been a slight amount of welcome warmth added to the mid-bass. The music, as a result, has become more emotionally involving. A little more tube-like in a very nice way.

8.  More meat on the bones overall. Massed strings are beautiful.  Bach's "Air on a G String" ... simply beautiful.  

9.  Lastley, I can set the volume control lower and get the same volume in sound as before.

Overall ... the new Orange fuse is a real winner in my system. 

Highly recommended.

I have a friend who has a masterful system.

He offered advice regarding DC fuses for linear power supplies. His findings, from a range of SR fuses red/blue/orange/purple is that the best fuses he found for LPS were HiFi Tuning Supreme. I bought AMR Gold due to available funds at the time, but will end up with HiFi Tuning Supreme fuses for my three LPS'.

Thanks for the inel in the alternate fuses! I appreciate your guidance.

Yesterday I ordered two Synergistic Research Purple fuses from Chris at VH Audio along with two Furutech plugs to reterminate a power cable. I’m looking forward to comparing the two fuses. If the Purples don’t deliver I may dig deeper into alternatives.

Arriving late to the discussion! My dealer suggested trying the new SR purple fuses in my preamp. If they are worth it, $200 isn't too bad for a tweak. But has anyone had to remove them or had trouble after installing them? what is the longest period any of you have had the same replacement fuses installed for in your equipment?

Hello Steve - I have easy access to my fuses on my Naim and Teddy Pardo gear.  They have a small drawer next to the IEC inlet. Other components has different access points. Mine were very easy. I've had two Purples in my system for close to a year and they are still at peak performance.

Hello Nutty, thanks for the response. I worry about interfering with the original equipment. I recently purchased A Mac C53, so would hate it to "affect" warranty, etc. With the Mac I would have to remove the chassis, donmt want to do that. My dealer said he would do it. If it's worth it, I would try it, otherwise, I'm very satisfied with the sound and performance.
