Turntable Upgrade Advice

Hello all!

I am considering upgrading my Clearaudio Concept TT in the near future to something a little more substantial. I have a short list at the moment, so was wondering if anyone has any insight into these and whether or not they would be an upgrade worth the investment.

1. Michell Gyrodec SE with Technoarm 2 ($5445)
2. Transrotor Darkstar with RB-330 ($5635)
3. Transrotor ZET 1 with RB-330 ($6365)
4. Nottingham Hyperspace with Ace-Space arm ($6590)

The Nottingham and ZET 1 are 'stretch' possibilities that are technically a little above my budget.

Mostly listen to Jazz on vinyl, but do play a variety of genres occasionally, if that makes any difference.

How about a refurbished Sota Sapphire with Origin Live tonearm? And Umami Red cart.

@joenies The oracle mk VI is a real beauty. The hifi shop I used to go to a long time ago had a mk 1 in store and even that was really nice - though definitely showed its age. Love it, but they are way over my budget, especially once you factor in tonearm cost as well. Maybe one day!

I have friends who have between them owned the Orbe (with the Mod's carried out, that are known to improve it)  and the SME 20/12.

As a result of my demonstrating a refurbished and modified Technics SP10 MkII > Bespoke produced TA, to a group which included these two friends and a Linn LP12 Owner ( with numerous upgrades) along with a few other attendees.

The outcome is as such, the Orbe Owner now has a TT>TA the same as mine, the previous TT>TA are sold with on the AN Cart' retained.

The SME 20/12 Owner sold on this ket and has been through a few TT's and now has a Schue TT (Modified with OL Parts)>an OL 12" Conqueror Arm (Conqueror arm has superseded the Illustrious and Illuminator Arms), it is claimed by the owner the set up is much better in their assessment than the SME.

The LP12 owner now has a SPR10.

Maybe, just Maybe a DD TT could be included in your short list.

@mmcgill829 have you considered Rega Planer 10

Wonderful table with wonderful arm.
Happy spinning! 🎼

I noticed there are a couple of used VPI tables w arm...not expensive.   I have a Supersoutmaster since Harry Pearsons rave review...I still love mine.  I changed from belt to rim drive, metal platter, 2nd pivot, all to the better, but the original was and is excellent.
