Please help me to define diagnosis of the following illness.

Very often especially lately I’ve been diving into one specific music style and going there around a year non-stop without even thinking of playing something else. While I was happy to devour dark ambient for almost a year, my next transition was to hip-hop/rap and there I stayed without listening anything else for quite a bit.

Classical music waves happened at least a couple of times

Right now I’ve finally "upgraded" myself and listening to minimalism of all kinds and deep EDM house/techno which makes it a few styles together that are I'd say pretty close to each other.

I’d probably say that it’s sort of ??MONOAUDISM??; MONOMELOPHOBIA??

Please suggestions. Thanks!

P.S. I had to verify this post with traffic lights in order to prove that I’m not robot

The best cure for music is music as emotion not as mere pleasant sound...

I figured for myself, without knowing if it is true for everyone, that the music i like a lot i listen to it more than 25 times in a short amount of time , i speak here about an album of any style...

I listened Bach the most often all my life... I cannot count...

I listened to Schutz Geisliche chormusic 1000 times in 7 years... I counted it...It was easy it was almost each 2 days... Because of the emotion revealed by the music : enthusiasm as in its etymology : penetrated by the divine ...

I listened the sonatas of Vivaldi opus 2 one thousand times too at the same period...

These two works express a rythmic pulse that increase creativity... I used them as a drug to increase my creativity with success.. Try them...

I listened, for the same reason , enthusiasm , the Jazz guitarist album of Pat Martino : "formidable" once a week for the last year...😊

If i listen more and more an album it became a presence, no more a distraction or a leisure, but a meaning, and a reminder of this meaning... Meaning as emotion never die...

I learned how to love musicians over any styles or compositions, their playing interpretation convey the emotion in a unique way and moved me , not the style , or genre or culture, etc ...

The genre, style, has no importance if it is , jazz, classical, choral , persian, Indian , African , generally... Other genres dont attract me so much even when i like what i listen to...Pop music for example...

It is the reason why the music i learned to love more and more by an habit which is imposed on me and not so much chosen by me, where the emotion is NEVER lost matter the more... It became a sacred listening...

In casual listening i explore and appreciate but most of what i appreciated a few times will never become a "sacred listening", a listening which will be mandatory then "sacred" , each week or each month, or one time or two a year after a long period of multiple listenings...

Some music change us and became a part of ourself , most other pieces of music is only fun leisure for a short time...

Sometimes through accident i stumble to a new ectasy....It is what i look for...I am never tired of a musical ectasy, repetition cannot kill it... Without these sacred ectasy i will not listening music much...

I listened at least 500 times the 8th book of madrigals of Monteverdi by Miroslav Venhoda... I dont know how and why i pick this version and not the other books among all others , i think that it was because it is the one which appear more  as a spontaneous improvisation for me... it is easy to count the number of times , i listened to it 50 years, 10 times a year... At least...

I will give you an example:

I listened to this album at least 100 times or perhaps 150 or 200, it suggest adoration and ectasy in prayer , it is very powerful each time i hear it, the same emotion without fail and no tiredness impose on me...It will ressuscitate the dead, as the allegretto of the 7 th symphony of Beethoven can do it for example  each time ... Try them...

That is my experience...Finally i dont like sound nor music so much, but some emotions conveyed in some music by some musicians... And i look for ectasy because ectasy last, fun do not last....

If you cannot stop a piece of music once it play, the first and the thousandth time, it is the one...

My best to you....

I too often focus on one artist or composer at a time, listening to nothing else for maybe a week at a time. That makes for a deep dive into what it is the artist/composer was all about.
