Southwest Audiofest

Hello to all and may your Spring be "berry"  merry !

Well sorry for the "corny" greeting, oops did it again. I am reaching out for help from you avid posters as well as the mostly readers rarely posters like me.

My wife and I will be in Dalles Saturday to attend the first ever Southwest Audiofest and our first ever Audiofest. I have yet to post my modest system but most of what I have and a lot of my audio  knowledge comes from sources like this forum with its wealth of contributers.

We are attending to hear and see the stuff that I have seen and some have heard in the glossy trade magazines, a few dealerships, My brother's house!!! and your posted systems WoW on that !! I want to see the real estate priced components and the closer to earth stuff too. Please is there a protocol or etiquette do or don't dos?  What do you recommend to make us agog, stunned, smile ? What should we not miss? What lesser known "brands" are THE ones to visit I am asking what would you do if not auditioning or shopping??  Thank you verry much for helping

Now you're talking.  That's as little as needed for a great response to my query. While my wife and I are not going with a purchase in mind (I ceded mine) still I had not heard of that manufacturer before. Also the mention that you made and have kept new friends as part of a show helps diminish my dim interpretation of the possibility of "stuffinese" being the prominent attitude.

Hearing some companies I had never heard. I  think possibly the MBL room is my favorite,  but hard to say. Going back to listen to favorites tomorrow.

I only thought to search the forums now to see if anyone was planning to meet up at this show. I went so that I could meet with the distributors and brands I deal for, but in hindsight, it would have been great to meet some Audiogoners during the show.

It was a much smaller show than others I’ve been to, and also much less busy. That said, a number of rooms sounded decent, and it was nice to have the time and space to listen to them all and talk with the people running them.
