My Pro-Ject Debut Carbon turntable died...what to do?

This is the 2nd time in a couple of months that my Pro-Ject Debut Carbon turntable won't turn when I turn it on. The platter sits still.

I unplugged it, lifted the platter and re-set the rubber band, waited a while, plugged it back in, and its worked since then.

Now, dead, again.

It's about 9 years old. Should have a lot of life. It's making no sound.

I'm looking for advice/experience. thank you.

If the platter isn’t rotating, it’s probably either the motor or the power supply. Since re-booting it worked last time, I’d say power supply. Check all connections and see if it has a fuse. It may not be that expensive to get a replacement power supply through your dealer.

Ah - thank you. I was thinking that it's the motor, but you're right. Worth getting a power supply to try it out.

First, try spinning it manually and see if you can play the record smooth as the motor does while listening to your favorite tunes. It's great experience everyone should try!

Does the motor start without the belt on ?

If it does you might need a new belt. Rubber stretches.

Check the bearing has oil.
