The Good Stuff

There are simply two kinds of music, good music and the other kind ... the only yardstick by which the result should be judged is simply that of how it sounds. If it sounds good it's successful; if it doesn't it has failed. --  Duke Ellington

This purpose of this thread is to provide a place to post outstanding examples of the Good Music.

Have you listened to

Ayo - Afro Blue

magos herrera afro blue

Not until now.  Both are nice tunes, but Ayo is the better version of Afro Blue.

Of course, all are good, but Big John takes first prize. :)

 Another classic Skylark

Good stuff.    What do you think of Abbey Lincoln as a singer?  I never liked her voice, but maybe that's just me.  Ronstadt and Fitzgerald were great.  Wilson was her usual self.  Whatever that is.  But as a great diva once said, Its a Saxophone World.   Its Stitt!!

Cheers

Abby Lincoln has a "unique" voice which takes some time to warm up to like Cassandra Wilson, Terez Montcalm, Frazey Ford.

To me she has a similar vocal sound as Jimmy Scott

I guess they think they made it mo' better.  Why is Jazz the only genre suject to noise maker attack?
