Anyone adjust cart set up due to ambient temperature changes?

My cart body was dragging slightly, so I contacted the manufacture. It is 2 years old.

I got a response within a few hours, and they asked if ambient temperature had increased by more than 4-5 degrees recently.

It has - where I live usual summer weather is a bit late, and the max temp in the house has increased by about 8 degrees. (we try to avoid using aircon).

They recommended decreasing normal down force from 1.9g, to 1.7 or 1.5 (min), and increasing VTA slightly.

-0.2g & + 2mm VTA solved the issue. Back in business sounding great.

It was new news to me and I avoided an overseas evaluation and possible repair.

Anyone else adjust due to temperature changes?

@lewm

The plan was to experiment first with the smallest change to down force. Then see if that, combined with a small change in VTA did the trick. If these small adjustments didn’t solve the issue then I was to send the cart in for evaluation.

-0.2g was just enough to do the trick but the VTA increase made the rake angle look a bit better.

so to try and answer your question, I guess downforce.

CORRECTION: the VTA adjustment was 2 playing cards so more like +0.5mm NOT 2mm

I live near the SoCal coast so 68-72 is common, but it can warm up quite quicky if the marine layer dissipates and the wind shifts the house can get to 78 or more if especially if we are not home.

Tammy from AG said tags work they just don’t auto populate and turn blue

I really don’t need too much heat, unless it is a Log Fire on Winters Night, then I can quite happily toast myself.

My listening space has been known to be 8-10 Celcius on a Winters Day and creep up to 18 -20 depending on how long the Room is occupied and Valves Amp’s are Powered On. With the Heating on as well the room can got to 24ish.

In the coolest Temp’ the Cart’ can sound a little off, but this can be a combination of both Valve and Cart’ attaining warmth and hitting their sweet spot.

I only know off Cart’s going Heel Heavy when their Suspension Wire has lost its optimised tension.

I recommend letting a trusted US Third Party Cart’ Service offer a assessment and correction if need be.
