bookshelf speakers on the floor

I spend a lot of the time on the floor (bad back) and read, listen, waste all the good remaining hours of the day like a lazy cat. I tried a pair of speakers on the floor, - before moving to a stand - and noticed that they sounded better than on a stand - to my ears. When I am on the floor, they sound even better. (Yes, there are a number of things wrong with me)

Is it OK for a bookshelf speaker to be on the floor? And if so, should I put something underneath? (Should I try putting it on my stomach? Just kidding!)

I have a room setup with bookshelves speakers 2-3in above floor, tilted up 15 degrees, 7ft equilateral triangle. 

It sounds awesome whether you're up, sitting on the floor or on a chair.  I love them that way.

BUT, it sounds horrendous with lossy cabinets.  Never do this.

thanks @yogiboy and @chrisr, I decided to stick to stands. But I will always wonder when lying on the floor if it would be more enjoyable :)

@nonoise If listener sits on the floor, than you don't even need those mapleshade stands. 

All I would add to such listening room is some Persian area rug to have yourself Middle East or Central Asia listening room design :-)

I have friends from Afghanistan and they don't use chairs in their home.
