New Project RS2T transport

I have had one already and sent it back, did not work at all upon receipt. Dealing with the Music Room though is a pleasure. Will always do business with them. Had unit replaced with a new one, just arrived Yesterday, Sunday afternoon 7-25-22. Hooked it up and SAID WOW!!! I have a Meitner MA-1 DAC and the synergy is Fabulous. Right out of the box it sounded, GREAT. So very OPEN. I have been blessed when upgrading several pieces to be totally surprised by the improvements. VERY Audible!

I am somewhat concerned though as there have been a great deal of posts about quality control issues. (see first sentence)  As I said unit sounds GREAT, very impressed. HOWEVER, if anyone can comment that owns one, I noticed when placing the little magnetic puck on the disc that it just sits atop the center spindle and does not contact disc. The magnetic puck has a female center on the underside that goes over a very small  male metal protrusion. (SPINDLE)   I would think that it should go over that spindle totally and meet the disc firmly. (no space between disc and puck??? When I place puck on top of CD, It appears that the machining on the underside of the hole should be a MM wider so it doesn't sit atop the spindle and drops down totally on the disc. Hope this makes sense. Thanks Robert TN    Ps would like to thank Charles1 DAD  for encouraging me to stick with transport. It is that GOOD!!!   Just wondering if they all are designed to do what I am experiencing?

I recently got mine back from repair under dealer warranty. It took 4 months. I am glad that my dealer stepped up and advocated for me. I ended up getting a new laser assembly. I was experiencing songs that stopped suddenly, and a few of my cd’s were not loading. Also, the transport would not power up unless I unplugged and re-plugged. These issues are solved now, hopefully. This is a fantastic sounding transport.

For those who have had issues with powering up from a full off position, it was recommended to me by Fine Sounds to load a disc prior to powering up. I haven't tested this theory as my power has been stable since the power company thankfully did some major renovations in my area.

I also have had good luck with some difficult to load discs just by being very cautious with leveling and being sure of full down position on the spindle.

Wow!...4 months to repair. Glad you're up and running and enjoying your music again.

Thanks for your valued opinion Charles. Would also be interested hearing from John (johnlcnm) if he is still has RS2 and Yggy DAC. I have read on another forum another person loving this particular combo. Word is that Yggy with A2 board using AD5791 chip is rather special with PCM especially via AES. Apparently not so much streaming USB etc.

For anyone interested i also found this thread very interesting.

Haven't posted in a while. Just an update from the originator of this topic. My third unit (RS2T)  is and has worked well for some time now. It is paired with a Bricasti M1 SE DAC with network card (AES-EBU) connection. Good cable, not crazy money and a LTA Linear power supply. Relatively new,  Tekton Encore (special upgraded version, serial # 5 and 6 and a PASS x-250 running in class A.    HEAVEN!!!!!! Rock and Roll is here to stay!!!!!!!!!!

@robshaw

Congrats on working through your RS2-T problems and putting together an excellent system.

Those Encores also are right at the top of Tektons offerings even without the premium upgrade package. Great speakers if you can handle that weight :)

Am curious though if you're running the Bricasti straight to your Pass x-250 instead of a pre-amp?

Best always,
