Victor tt-101

Hi All,

I just bought a JVC QL-10 and the seller wants to know how to remove the platter for safe shipping. He states that the platter does not come off. Anyone know if the platter can be removed and how?

Thanks

Like @lewm said. for old TT's, I usually pull up with my fingers in the holes and put my thumbs on spindle to create enough resistance to free the platter. I would encourage the seller to try a little harder with care.

I’ve had my TT101 platter off no more than 2 years ago and yet it’s pretty frozen to the spindle. Perhaps pressing down on spindle while lifting the platter would actually work. Without the need for a mallet, that is.

Thanks all! I contacted with those instructions. I even sent him a picture of me taking off the platter on my TT-71. I thought for some reason the 101 might have a fancy lock switch of the sort. I hope the seller is gentle. I instructed him on how to package the turntable properly, which includes taking the platter off, as he was a little nervous. I think he was use to belt drives.
