@ghosthouse Those are not only some of Van’s best, but they also happen to be among my all time favorite CDs.
What's in your CDP tonight? the minority report
This evening for me, it's Genesis (definitive edition remaster) "A Trick of the Tail".

@ghosthouse Guru is also my personal favorite which has been on regular rotation since 86’ when it was released. Veedon Fleece is a close second along with Astral Weeks, Moondance, Saint Dominic’s Preview and Poetic Champions. Being extremely prolific, I also have lots of Van in my collection from his later years. Unfortunately, I feel that none of his more recent releases come close to matching his prime output from the 70s and 80s. |
Hello again. Glad to continue a conversation about Van Morrison's music. While I know Astral Weeks is well-regarded, that one never really caught on for me. Always found it a challenging "listen" that I didn't connect with. St. Dominic's Preview a little bit more accessible (Almost Independence Day) than Weeks but not a favorite. It has been quite a while since I tried either so I should go back and revisit...see if my hearing has improved ;-) Another that does bear mentioning for frequent listening: Back on Top (and in particular, The Philosopher's Stone). Haven't kept up with most of Van's output in the 2000s. Last things I bought some time ago were Keep it Simple (like that one a lot) and Born to Sing: No Plan B (don't think I've listened to all of it yet). That's it for now though there are plenty other gems to discuss. Best regards, Ciao
