DAC break-in question

I'm not wanting to debate if break-in is real or not.

Can I just stream to a DAC and keep the amplifier off (the Dac is running and showing the sample rates, etc)? Or does a signal need to be getting to the actual amplifier?

My amp is Class A and I do not want to leave it running. However, I don't want to dig into my house ceiling speaker system (a real pain).

Thanks in advance

Have you ever tried any resistor DAC’s? If so, how would you compare their sound to the DAC200?

@curiousjim

I have not. Before I purchased the DAC 200, I considered the Holo May KTE and based on reviews, but that seemed a risky bet to me. I was able to audition the DAC 200 in home extensively prior to purchase.

The closest I’ve come is listening to DCS Bartok and Rossini ring DACs given their topology is hybrid R2R. But I don’t think anyone here would suggest they sound like a traditional resistor ladder DAC and they weren’t my cup of tea, so to speak.

Sorry I can’t be more help on that front.
