Revox Introduces A New Reel-To-Reel Deck...$16k

B77 MK III Stereo Tape Recorder | Revox - experience true studio sound quality

..it plays at 7.5 and 15 inches per second.

Is there room in hifi any more for a new open reel deck?

Would anyone under 65 years old be interested in an open reel deck??

i’m pretty sure dude is making a pretty penny on his venture.
Way way way too rich for my blood, but for those that are, I can’t imagine not Wanting to jump all over this.

Yup, I saw it on picture. I'd rather get old Studer and have it serviced and calibrated. Too expensive, anyway.

All I can say is; IMHO 15ips 2T tape can have the best SQ of any medium, albeit at a stupid price. For example, Lyn Stanley, London With A Twist, or Norah Jones, Come Away With Me, both these recording, and others, make people think they are listening to live music in my home, that good! Why do you think a lot of high end equipment manufacturers are using R2R tape to demonstrate their products at audio shows?

I previously owned a restored Revox B77 MK2 HS tape deck, eventually replaced it with a PR99 MK2 deck, fully restored and rebuilt by techtrader (https://www.techtrader.ch). Not only does this tape deck sound fantastic it also looks incredibly beautiful to me. I have no commercial affiliation with techtrader, their products are as good as you can get at approximately half the cost of a new Revox B77 MK3 deck.

FWIW, I also use a high end TT (Michell Engineering GyroDek, SME IV and Clearaudio Maestro V2 Ebony cartridge) and stream via an Aurender N10 running Quobuz. Neither source comes close to matching the PR99 MK2 tape deck in terms of SQ, that good!
