I'm guilty myself for participating in pretty bad discussions, but I'm learning to behave. Late Almarg gave be an example how to behave that I will try to follow.
Disagreements and Conflicts between Audiophiles have we lost our brotherhood and maturity?
I looked back over my posts and even my audio business dealings over the last 5 years and it seems like we have lost our ability to peacefully disagree or resolve disputes like grown men. Some of my best friends in this life are audiophiles and I enjoy the gear, the music and the brotherhood. I don’t enjoy the senseless spats. The inability to resolve conflicts and the people trying to destroy peoples business and reputations. Thoughts?

@oldaudiophile story time. I had a guy on Audiogon fake his identity call the owner of the company I work with. Disparage me etc etc. Come to find out. He lied about who he was. He was on his 8th audiophile name after getting kicked off the site 7 times. I did a reverse trace of his catch phrases and figured out he had been suspended 7 times and we would not have known if I wasn’t a lawyer in my professional life and had the ability to catch him. Dude lied about who he was, his system, where he lived and what he had owned. Just to try to destroy someone he had never met. We have some sicko’s in this hobby. But I do meet a lot of good people. Like this weekend a made about 5 new audio friends and had a great time at southwest audiofest. |
