Are there any recording artists you just can’t listen too?

For me there is one that has always been top of the list.

Edith Piaf…..l just can’t think of anything worse.

Do not get me wrong and consider my choice is in any way racist….l love to listen to music with songs in any language… Italian, French, Spanish…..

Russian and German can however be extremely demanding, but Edith Piaf (if possible in any language) is a potential harrowing experience.

Do any others on here have a similar artist, or artists that can trigger the same physical reaction?

Thanks for your detailed explanations...

I feel a bit ignorant in this music field...

it seems i dislike most POP music repetitive patterns and i dislike the deliberate effects search from most Industrial music....

I prefer Josquin Des Prez and i bet most dont even know the name of the composer all Europe mourn the death...

@mahgister

Yep… Industrial music is not pop music.

l think in your case you may call it that as pop music sounds mechanical and because of its repetitive rhythms? Clockwork timing and consistent beat orientation can sound mechanical.

The definition of “Industrial music” is a genre of music that draws on harsh mechanical, transgressive, or provocative sounds.

In my understanding sounding like some avant-garde experimental music. Examples that come to mind would be the soundtracks Ennio Morricone composed for Italian horror/crime/physiological movies in the 60s and 70s. Some people have called this period of the composers writings impenetrable…..an unnerving and irritating listen. A part of this recoding artists output that some just can’t listen to.

Redeeming features of Bob Dylan’s early music.

Unusual for me to bring this up, l have tried to be (biting tongue) impartial to the names posted…..”artists you just can’t listen to”

On this occasion l would like to add that others may not like his lyrics or can’t even bare the sight of looking at him (poor man has a medical condition too) but l would like to say….

IMHO, some artists have used his writings and have made some interesting recordings with their own vocalisations to better effect.

“With God on Our Side”  Manfred Mann, sung by Paul Jones.

“Masters of War” with stranger exaggerated vocals by Jose Feliciano.

Some may not be tolerant of Bob singing these songs, but when reworked or revisited by other artists, the writing talent (for me) shines through.

Bob Dylan is a real poet... Most people dont even know how to read prose  they certainly not appreciate poetry...

If not a poetical genius  he will not be in my very  short list of popular artists i like ...

I concur with this post of mylogic:
