Why the huge increase in the price of Sonus Farber Amanti G5 speakers.

Just the other day, the G5’s were $36k and now they’re $43k!  I’m thinking it’s too soon for it to be tariffs.  Is Sonus Farber selling so many pairs that they’re just getting greedy?  Whatever the reason, an almost 20% price increase can’t be good for business.

@jetter

I sure hope the next new speaker system doesn’t have 9 of the same drivers in it!  🤣🤣🤣

The price increase was obviously necessary because SF speakers are being upgraded with higher quality Bose speaker drivers and crossovers.

It’s too soon for it to be 20% tariffs.  I have no idea what the current tariffs are on Italy.  I think they’re still at 2.5% on electronics.  The model I am referring to was new maybe a couple years ago and has had no more R&R put into it, so that’s not it.  They’re not a mediocre speaker and if it was, why would raising the price help sell it? As far as I know, the US is the only country affected by the rare earth feud, so that’s not it.
I’m guessing shipping prices have dropped since the pandemic, so I don’t think that’s it.

I still think it’s a good question and I’m going to keep digging.

it appears that Sonos Faber raised prices on all its products between 15 and 20% on June 1. Obviously, this would not have been done without direction from Bose. I think they are pushing their speakers up into the price range of products with which they will not be nearly as competitive, but I guess Bose knows best.

I'm always fearful of buying such a high price, while hoping to keep them for a lifetime, it is concerning the speakers from Sonus faber are 50% off in the used market after a handful of years, and it seems that many of their high end speakers are having trouble selling.  So plan on keeping them.

What will higher tariffs due to audio sales. Completely discourages me from doing anything

Why do I find the thought of Bose being in control very unsettling?

but I guess Bose knows best
