Cartridge and/or phono stage upgrades

I have a VPI Classic 1 stock tt that seems fine as I’ve had it for 3 yr and bought used from a relative. It has a Transfiguration Axia cart with God knows how many hours and I was looking to maybe upgrade. I was looking for advice from someone with a positive experience with an upgrade for this gear. I’m running Parasound JC 3+ phono pre; Hegel H590 int amp; Magico A3; pr. of SVS SB 4000. I know an obvious phono upgrade is the Pass XP27 but a little more than I want to part with. I’ve been tempted by a trade for a ModWright PH 9.0X but I’m not sure that’ it is an upgrade or just a lateral move.

$650 actually, $150 is freight. Made in Japan by Shoichi Yoshimoto and sold direct.

The GoldNote PH-10 and PSU-10 it replaced list for $3300.

Dealer cost is $1980, distributor cost is around $1,500. Probably costs $500 to make them, maybe less. You get the picture.

I bought the model 4 after a members here said he preferred it to a $9k Allnic. He just bought a second one.

As for cables, I use Zavfino Fusion and I lucked out on a used pair for $200 (rare find) but even new they are on sale I think for $357. (I also used balanced with the GoldNote )

The Model 4 sits between some fairly expensive gear and Many here would suggest I should spend 10x what I spent on the PS. Details in my virtual system.

PS. Although the stock JJ-ECC83MG tubes are remarkably good I've settled on NOS Telefunken's which I prefer slightly over NOS Mullard's, which I like better in my DAC over the Tele's.

Obviously a very subjective and personal choice, but I believe @lalitk is also using Tele's in his Model 4.

as most posted above, just have it Re-tipped.

regarding the phono preamp, i have the Jc3+ and that sounds wonderful.

overall- it sounds good. unless you want to step up to a Zestos andros.
