Solid state preamp with a mono switch and remote

I have been a tube guy for quite some time, but would like to pick up a good quality solid state preamp with remote control and a mono switch, just to have as a reference point.

Im looking for recommendations for great sounding units under $5k.

The mono switch seems to be the limiting factor, i checked out the latest “Recommended Components” list and all of the “reasonably priced” solid state options lacked the mono function.

You might try contacting Arek Kallas at Hattor Audio (link) to ask if he could do what you need as a special project.  His main product line provides a high level of quality at reasonable prices.

I would recommend to look for an Accuphase C2420/C2450/C2300 one.. Japan’s 100V AC version of first two can be easily converted to US or Europe, not sure about newer C2300. C2420/C2450 has good sounding optional two inputs MM/MC Phono. Built-in (free) headphones amp sounds amazing!

Anthem STR preamp has a Mono listening mode. The remote has a mode button and mono is selected from the menu button on the preamp. Run it pure analog or take advantage of ARC (Anthem Room Correction). Includes a decent MM/MC phono stage.
