New Air Suspension Footers for VPI TNT

During November of last year, I ordered the air suspension footers for my VPI TNT Mk. 3.5 turntable, and I patiently awaited the arrival of the upgraded footers until they finally arrived yesterday. As has been rumored here in this forum, the design of the footers has been upgraded to a sealed design that no longer requires air to be pumped into the footers. The new design should solve the tweaky issues relating to air leakage, periodic re-inflation and periodic re-leveling adjustments. So, for all who are interested, I think you will find that VPI now has the upgraded air suspension footers in stock and available to ship.

Hi Gladstone,

Are the paddleballs a direct drop-in replacement for the air bladders, or are other changes needed. I have a TNT-V with the inflatable bladders. It would be nice if I could just buy the paddleballs, remove the bladders, and drop-in the paddleballs.

Nope, you need the little support base that screws into the plastic foot. The ball rests in this cup-like device that screws into the foot. Just call VPI to obtain it.

Gladstone, I also own a HRX, so interested to see that in your system they add dynamics and tigher bass. have you noticed any downsides compared to the air bladders?

What happens with the holes on top of the 4 towers after you fit the balls in??. I hope VPI provide some nice looking cap or something.
How does the ball under the extra weight of the tonearm cope?. Is it the same pressure as the rest of the balls?.

looks like I need to contact VPI to get some.

VPI is coming out with some black plugs for the holes. It would be better if they simply eliminated the silver towers...but that would require attacking the plinth.

I didn't notice any downsides. In any case, the firestone plugs contain a lot of metal and other parts that must be resonating.
