White Substance on Aja 30th Anniversary

How does it sound? Any comparisons to an original pressing?
Is it a cloak and dagger digital product?
Can we really trust a record company these days even if they say it was cut from original master tapes? I mean who's checking?

Would love to hear some good news but every re release I have heard on vinyl has been a huge disappointment.

"There have been some problems at the RTI with a patch of inner sleeves that they received from their long-time supplier. The glue that holds the plastic in the paper sleeves leaked through the plastic and causes the white marks on the vinyl."

I also have seen this on several new records. It did line up with the inner sleeve glue joints, so I am sure it is from the sleeve. It has had no noticeable sound effect on my albums. I am also pretty sure that it not glue residue itself that has leaked out of the seams. I think it is probably a solvent that is a component of the glue that continues to offgas long after the glue has "dried" that has a visible effect on the vinyl. Maybe it could affect the durability of the vinyl in this location, but so far, I have not noticed any degradation in the sound of mine.

why is it that steely dan albums so often show residue of strange white powdery substances?

No, As I said I have been afraid to play it. Don't want to gum up my stylus.

Not sure. Could have had digital delay in the cutting.

This seems to a popular position these days. I disagree. Some are quite good. The Clapton and Clapton Unplugged are very nice as is Hoffman's Rumours. I only have the 33 Rumours so far but he 45 x 2 should be here in a few days. The Friday's Music version of Close To The Edge is pretty good also.

Thanks. I still my play it on my old Project and see if the stylus gets residue.
