Synergistic New Tesla Line...Any comments?

Hi Ed. I am hoping to get the Apex speaker cables soon. Once I evaluate this I will move on to interconnects. Sorry this is taking longer than expected. I got sidetracked auditioning some very good power cables. I will report back what I find. It is encouraging to hear your positive experiences with the entry model Teslas. Would you mind sharing what improvement you heard? What were your previous cables? Based on everything I have read, it sure seems like the Teslas are the real deal.

Tboooe, by next weekend I will have an opportunity to audition through the Cable Company (CC) a pair of XLR Acoustic Reference interconnnects (cdp to pre) against the CC borrowed Votex (cdp to pre) Acellerator (pre to amp) combination. I'll also try the Acoustic Ref (cdp to pre) and Acellerator (pre to amp) in combination as well.

To answer your question:

I upgraded my speakers, and the cdp suddenly was much too bright, granular, fatiguing, and sometimes harsh... "Treble Trouble."

I have Kubala and Sosna Fascination cables all the way around: SCs, ICs, & PCs, and previous to the speaker upgrade I was very satisfied.

But with the speaker upgrade, the link from cdp to pre (the pre is tube) was not desireable.

I tried the Kubala Expression to see if it addressed the issue: a little bit...

Leica_man here on Audiogon and the CC guy (Joe) recommended working my way up the SR interconnects, particularly the Tesla series... and it has been quite the revelation... greater and greater degrees of improvement in all respects... addressing the glare problem and so much more musciality that it's frankly astonishing!

I'm freakin' because "rumor has it" the the new SR PCs are going to be killers at all price levels!

Well... if my budget is going to get "killed," it might as well be with a smile on my face!

Hi Ed, I also went from Vortex, Accelerator, Acoustic Reference and now Apex on my CDP to PRE. I think you will really like the Acoustic R's on CDP. They are not bright at all. Very wide frequescy range, round and very nice midrange texture. I also preferred the Accelerator on the PRE to AMP with this cable. It compliments the A.R. with it's quickness and is neutral. Less warm than the Vortex.

Are you going to upgrade to Tesla speaker cables as well? They will also enhance the effects of the I/C's.

Great review. So you really liked the Tesla phono cable huh? I don't see anything about this on SR's website but since I'm getting ready to take the plunge into vinyl (again), I think I'll give it a try. How much does this cable cost- is it more expensive then the Hovland Music Groove 2? Anyone else have any experience with this new phono cable?
