why do companies charge double for xlr cables?

For some cables whether you buy XLR or RCA , there is a small premium for XLR which is fine. But in many cases I've seen (ie. Audience for example) the XLR version cost double what the RCA version costs , just wondering why.

Is it true then , just as in electronics, that just because you have XLR connection that is still may not be fully balanced?

What happens if you get single ended wires re terminated?, the Audioquest Mont Blac cables we use are being sent out to the factory to re terminate for use with an ARC REF3 pre and Aesthetix amp..........both of which are made for balanced operation. Is this a bad idea and if so how come nobody mentioned it?

Acrolink cables are the same price for either RCA or XLR interconnects. So perhaps you should look into evaluating their XLR cables...they are very good.
More conductor,
more cost,
more price,
no conspiracy,
next question.

Happy Listening!
I called Audioquest and they employ a tripled balanced wire runs so all wires are going to be ideal for conversion, where many wires will have a different drain wire.
