about to jump into the power cord foray

I am about to jump into the power cord foray. Since I’ve upgraded my IC’s and speaker cables most recently, I think the next step should be to look towards replacing the stock power cords. My system is as follows:

Dynaudio 52SE bookshelves
McIntosh MC2105 power
Audio Research LS-7 pre
Adcom GCD-600 cd changer
Lite Audio DAC 60 dac
Rotel RT-1080 tuner
Audioquest Diamondback & Kimber Hero IC’s
Kimber 8TC cables

I intend on putting IEC sockets on the A/R, McIntosh, and Adcom in the next week. If I could find a high quality changer, I’d probably dump the Adcom but I haven’t seen anything that’s really in my price range. Since I don’t have a new power or pre amp in the budget for the next 2 years, I plan on adding IEC sockets to the aforementioned devices. Will I notice any sort of improvement in sound quality, by going with Signal or Element cables with my current equipment? If not, should I look at a cable in the $100-150 range like the Virtual Dynamics Power 3 or VH Audio Flavor? I’m also open to any used cables on the site in the sub $150 dollar range

Hi guys,

I have just changed my Nordost Valhalla power cords to a cord made by a lithuania company called lessloss and I want to tell you that the sound is now truly amazing yes right out of the box. More bass, more presance, bigger sound stage, more transparancy, more definition, I hear things that I did not hear before I am just so impressed and amazed

The Nordost power cords start at $159.99 (Magus 1 meter) and boy oh boy do these cables make an audible difference! The Vishnu at $659.99 (2-meter) or $549.99 (1-meter) is the sweet spot in this line-up, in my biased opinion. Anyone with even average ears can hear the improvements in image width, depth and overall separation in just a matter of minutes. Even if you just use one going to your power distribution unit. I wouldn't have believed this 1 year ago but I do now. I say nix the SJ-type cable do-it-yourself route, however, since doing that myself for my Mac 30's made very little difference. I used high quality hospital grade male plugs, too. I don't think the SJ type cable is high quality enough plus it's stranded cable. Solid core seems to work better (like the Nordost cables, which also extrude silver over the copper solid wire). Try good power cords on loan from your local dealer over one weekend and you'll become a believer too. Amazing stuff!

I have found the same results in rolling power cords in my system.
Everything just seems quicker, tighter, and more detailed.
Unfortunately, I have tried several different cords on my Rotel 1093, and cannot equal the performance of its stock cable.
I can't understand it.
Everything I have tried (Xlo, Zu, Miova, Audioquest, ect.) has not equaled the perfomance of the stock cord.
Amps, pre-amps, conditioner, ect. I have noticed a difference, digital has been a real problem for me.

Congrats on your new cables, no turning back now.
