Power of amp.

I wouldn't agree with that idea at all. The only thing that comes to mind is that if you have excess amp power, then you will have a greater dynamic range. But there are so many factors that could trash that notion too, I feel. I've listed to too many different amps with all other factors being constant to believe any such dogma.

Listen to a 2 to 5 watt SET amp on efficiant speakers or a cheap Monarchy class "A" low watt amp on normal efficiancy monitors and you will get a good answer to your question. There are no set rules, which adds to both the fun and the frustration of this hobby.
