Sony DVP-S9000ES DVD Player skipping

I have had my player for about a year now and probably enjoyed about 50 or so movies on it so far. Lately I get about 3/4 of the way thru a movie when the playback begins to skip and eventually stops. It becomes so bad that some movies have to be ejected then reinserted for playback. After that the same scene will play just fine. The discs are not dirty and the unit is cool to the touch. I could use any help or suggestions.
