CD player - new generation?

Hi all,

computations are showing that a 40-bit DAC will be very close to analog. To your knowledge, there is such a cd-player on the market? Or at least one with 32-bit DAC?

Thank you all of you

How would it work? It's like a digital zoom on a cheap digital camera. The CD word length is 16 bits. If you put that into a 32 bit word, you have to guess what goes in the less significant bits.

Regards,
Doesn't the Chord DAC offer 64 bits? I had it in my system and thought it was great but not the bomb.
Is that offering 64-bit? I dount honestly. Even the profesional cd-players are using 24-bit at max. As long as I know.
Yes Bigkidz is right the chord is indeed a 64-bit Dac, but there are a lot of 16-bit dacs sound much much more *analog*.

Satyam.
