Neither Stereo Exchange nor TFtA will do consignment. They would buy them outright but for pennies on the dollar. Another possible buyer is Adam from High-End Audio Auctions. He's on Ebay. Otherwise, the recommendation to list on CL would be best.

"08-10-15: Stanleylocke Neither Stereo Exchange nor TFtA will do consignment. They would buy them outright but for pennies on the dollar." I can personally vouch for that statement. Dave from Stereo Exchange will definitely give you some pennies, and as few as possible. I disagree with Craigs List, though. By all means try it. But I still think you'll have your best chance using Audiogon. You'll be reaching the right people, and over a larger area. ATC is not a big, well known brand, like some other speakers. But the following they do have is very loyal. As long as the listing price is fair, the speakers will sell, and there's a good chance they may come from a different state like PA, NJ, CT and all the other close states. That's why I say use AG. |
08-10-15: Stanleylocke+1 re Adam. He is also Audiogon member "Squiddy," and he is located in Brooklyn. I've bought a couple of things from him over the years, and he was extremely nice to deal with. Since his business is buying and selling used equipment, he would obviously have to pay significantly less than he anticipates being able to sell for, but hopefully his markdown would be no worse than, and perhaps better than, the commission that is involved in selling via a consignment business. You can either PM him through Audiogon or request a quote via www.stereobuyers.com. Regards, -- Al |
