No more big power supplies for preamps

Symphonic Line is still making their pre-amps with separate power supply units in 2013, and they remain brawny (although for some reason not quite as brawny today as my rebuilt one!). Big music through big speakers takes big power supplies and reserves. Why wait until the signal hits the power amp before applying the juice?
