The new LP's may indeed sound better than the hires downloads on some systems, but since they are both from the same 24-96 PCM digital masters it's hard to see how the LP's would "blow away" the downloads.
I keep wondering how a recording that started as digital can ever be called analog vinyl? Robert Harley from Absolute Sound has said trying to convert digital to analog is like trying to change hamburger back into steak.
I realized how much I loved vinyl recently and got a new table, phono, cart yesterday. I don't have many digital to vinyl records as I never liked them as much and on the table I'm selling I could still tell the difference. It all depends on your hearing and how good your system is I think.
