any thoughts on the pioneer sx-939 receiver

saw one in a pawn shop last week for a hundred bucks.

Was so excited I carried it home from the store in my lap like a new born baby. Sounded good and looked beautifull. If the one you are looking at seems nice. One hundred bucks or less is a small price to pay for the some joy.

Also there are a fair number of tantalum electrolytics in the signal path and they can be tricky to chase down if they are failing. It was a mistake to put them in in the first place, no time like the present if you go for it. Just be forewarned that the amp will require, like many things over 3 decades old, some service.

I love it, it sounds great and works perfect. If the SX939 is in REALLY GOOD condition, it may not be a bad deal. Sandra
