Cowboy Junkies junky needs to expand

Hey there 'Goners

H, my name is Andrew and I'm a Junkies-aholic. I need a little support from the group if you could be so kind. As a confirmed though never-to-recover Cowboy Junkies fan, I too often find the CJ's playing. My GF is gonna hijack my CD's and my iPod soon and do a little shuffling of her own. Without the thread going too far off course or getting too far from my professed comfort zone, any suggestions on expanding my musical horizons?

Thanks much!

thanks Lokie I have owned Ingenue since it came out and I just bought my first Bill Frisell (Have a little faith) the other day! I am listening to Good Dog Happy Man right now and it is mellow.

btw sorry to hi jack your thread Awightman1
Oh, and then there’s the guy side of things.
M Ward (fave of the male artists)
Lee Harvey Osmond (on Latent Records, Junkies home-grown label)
Iron & Wine

I guess I like my music a little on the dark side. Deep as a well, richly layered, complex while simple in musicality and of course distinct in its vocals.

Add to the top of your list for the guy side of things that fits your tastes:

Alexi Murdoch "Time Without Consequence" (stunning debut)

Also among current favorites that might fit the bill, in no particular order:

William Fitzsimmons
Damien Jurado (can get pretty dark)
16 Horsepower - In this tangent, just the CD "Folklore"
Bonny Prince Billy
Antony and the Johnsons

Just returned from the weekly grocery shopping and the shuffle from the iPod reminded me of a couple more. Hem, I prefer Rabbit Songs, and Mark Kozelek may be a stretch, but may suit what you're looking for - he also worked with a band - Sun Kil Moon.
