Tom Waits Bad?

Tom Waits has many a devoted fan. But since I began to haunt the audiophile sites, I've noticed a particular animosity, even cringing hate, directed toward the artist. I would be especially interested in the perspective of those who do not care for his craft. I know, curiosity kills...

This may say more about me than Señor Waits, but "Picture in a Frame" (from Mule Variations) was the first dance at our wedding.... Definitely a fan.

This site reeks of AOR sentiment. Adventuresome music like Hip Hop and Tom Waits generally gets "flamed." In the end, hopefully your ears will be open to rich experiences like the new album.
