DUPLEX RECEPTACLES YOUR EXPERIENCE

I as well ran dedicated line and used hubble hospital grade duplex receptacles. Better grip on the plug was my excuse.

I also have dedicated lines and use a Shunyata RZ1(?) receptacle on one and a Hubble hospital grade on the other.

On a whim I replaced the single plug(not duplex) Hubble with an old FIM, blue duplex.

What a difference.
More of all the good stuff.

I always knew better receptacles made a difference, but I was not prepared for as much of an improvement the FIM duplex made.

There was nothing wrong with the single Hubble receptacle, it was tight fitting, but the FIM duplex just added more depth and front to back image and seemed more like a component or wire upgrade.

I suggest trying several different receptacles,until you find the one that does more than the others.

Hi, Lezdam. I use Oyaide R 1 Receptacles for my 10 awg dedicated lines.

The sound was good, but always seemed a little thin. It was more opened, with better dynamics and a wider sound stage.

It was not until I made a DIY power strip along the line of a VH Audio Hot-Box, using the Porter Port Receptacle that I achieved the fullness that was missing.

The good thing is the strengths of the Oyaide R 1 remained with the wider sound stage and dynamics. But the all copper Porter Port is great at bring out low level details and fullness.

So these two Receptacles complement each other greatly in my system.

Jejaudio, why not also use the R-1 in your DIY power strip ? I'm sure the Porter Ports are fine sounding receptacles, but are they really "all copper" ? Pure copper is too soft to be used for recepetacle contacts. That is why the Oyaide R-1 uses beryllium copper. At the $36 price, the Porter Ports have to be unplated brass or phosphor bronze. Beryllium copper would be much more expensive.

Hi, Gbart. You are correct. I misspoke about the Porter Ports being all copper. There is Brass being used as well.

One of the big selling points of the Porter Ports is the lack of tin plating in the Hubble Receptacle. I had the 4 Porter Ports install for a year before I installed the Oyaide R 1.

I only purchased 2 Oyaide R 1's. I decided to remove the Porter Ports from the wall and use only R 1'S.

So I change out the two double gang Porter Port boxes to single gang boxes with the Oyaide R 1 outlets.

I wanted to keep the R 1's on my main dedicated lines.

I thought of buying 2 more Oyaide R 1's, but when I added the extra Porter Port Receptacle I had on hand, by way of a power strip. It added just what I needed. So left it alone.
