DC Offset Blocker/Killer - where to buy in the USA And round and round we go. It's this, it's that, believe me. You made a simple case for me anyway. You took the unit to 3 different houses miles apart from each other with the same humming result. What more has to said? Defective unit, no?
Speakers with the most detailed midrange? (non-ESL/planar) celander, Never heard Dunleavy speakers before, and always had hoped to do so.
Impedence Matching Help Needed Went the passive way once with a pre-amp. Thought it sounded fair until we added a buffer circuit. Not passive anymore, and sounded exceptional compared to the weak sound that the passive produced. Maybe if the math all worked out, the story could...
Measuring impedance with multimeter As said above, the 'resistance' that you measure with your ohm meter is in DC, i.e. direct current. Impedance is an entirely different measurement that uses an alternating current (The music signal happens to be just that, AC). It might like under...
adcom equipment..... Been listening to the amp for a bit now, and I like what I hear. For my ears the sound is more transparent. I wouldn't put it heads and shoulders above the previous tube amp that I had, but it does more things right than wrong. As for the harsh so...
Shorter speaker runs or shorter IC Runs...Which is the better set up and why? I don't have a real preference as to the length of either, but more towards the connection being made at each end. Interestingly, Maple Shade strongly recommends the opposite, i.e. long speaker cable (no less than 8'), and short interconnects. I w...
Speakers with the most detailed midrange? (non-ESL/planar) I have been working with the Decware FRX2 driver for years now. I like the midrange that it produces with tube amplification, but not the bass so much. So, I am going with SS power amp driven by a hybred tube pre. AS expected, I have to watch the ...
DC Offset Blocker/Killer - where to buy in the USA Well, If you find yourself in the same position as the OP, then demand a full refund, and find unit that does not have this problem. Been there, done that.
DC Offset Blocker/Killer - where to buy in the USA I will be most interested in how this all plays out. When there is a problem like this, and it ONLY EXISTS with the unit being suspected, AND it has the same problem in someone else's home as well,, Good Lord, it is more than reasonable to get a F...
Highest BUILD quality tube amps? Yes, Quicksilver is really a contender for build quality. I might explain that QS products are not so much overbuilt as they are properly built. You pay for sounds, not pounds. Even so, they have their own heft to them.
Looking for thoughts/opinions on tube seller's response to my question... I can only recommend Antique Tube Supply for quality tested tubes. Andy has been around for a long time, and nobody out there does the testing the way that he does.
Highest BUILD quality tube amps? Prima Luna has got my attention for the simple reason of point to point wiring. Circuit boards are only so good IMO. Boards do have a range of quality as far as material used, thickness of traces, etc. In the end though, it is hard to beat point t...
Threshold verse Pass Labs how can I justify significant price difference Sorry, not having read enough of this thread, I may be repeating something here. I owned a Threshold S500 and took a peek inside. It was impressive, 'for it's time', I will say that. As well built as it was, there was an issue with the channels be...
How to DIY yourself very nice Class D monoblocks Seems that I just saw a little kit from Pete Millet for a D amp. Might have been a mono block, not sure. Really like his stuff though.
Bright or Dim? When I go to have coffee, it is not likely to be a casual cup. The coffee, being the main event, is important, but not much more than the environment. Too much noise, crappy music in the background, or worse, two different sources of music playin... |
