Tonearm cartridge wires question
Thanks guys. I have the silver Valhalla tonearm wire on my Classic tonearm and there is quite a bit of "slack" in the wires between the pins and the opening in the tonearm tube where the wires come out. I'm not sure what sort of insulation Valhall...

Raul,Aha! I now understand why your posts are so painful to read and understand - you write them in Japanese! You're preaching as if you were some sort of an audio oracle. You are not. You're just another audiophile with too much time on his hands...
Parallel? How do you set the VTA?
Stringreen,Thank you and all others who provided great advice and tips in response to a simple question without pontificating.
Parallel? How do you set the VTA?
Wrm57,Good to know there are other flawed creatures without mystical audio powers out there. I was about to commit myself to an audio asylum for VTA challenged individuals.
any Marillion Fans?
I grew up in Eastern Europe in the '80s and "Kayleigh" and "Lavender" were huge hits. I've had a sweet spot for them ever since, but stopped following them after Fish left. Once I got into analog a few years ago, I've acquired double copies of all...
Parallel? How do you set the VTA?
Zenblaster,"Parallel to the record surface is a starting point" you said. What then in this thread does not make sense to you? I think we all agree that final adjustments should be done by ear, but starting with a tonearm parallel to the surface m...

Certainly not, I 'm not on any tube campaign, I just shared facts/information about that normally are unknow by some tube amp owners and that in some ways could works as " open eyes " tool . That's all.Raul,As Lewm noted, it is impossible to have ...

Raul's post makes you wish Audiogon had a limit on post length so he'd be cut off, just like when you get cut off by some voicemails. Reading his posts in this thread, I find it ironic that he has "enjoy the music" as permanent part of his signatu...
Mint Protractor for the Classic Toneram 10.5i-SE
For the Classic 1 the effective mass I have seen stated as 10.5 g, 11.2 g, and 12.3 g. No information as to the material it is made of. However, it is very comforting to see that VPI has definitely got better about providing consistent information...

1kitch,This is precisely what I've been looking for! Thank you very much for this tip.

TestpilotSo, what did we learn?1) Classic JMW S2P distance is 258mm,2) Overhang is 15mm,3) Effective length is 273mm4) Info on VE is wrong Are you really so obtuse? Or do you have reading comprehension problems? 1) Classic JMW also came with an S2...
Mint Protractor for the Classic Toneram 10.5i-SE
Testpilot,You took select quotes from several of my posts out of context to prove something that I'm not quite sure is relevant to anything except to fuel some sort of a forum feud. I guess you forgot to quote from the posts where I admitted I was...
Mint Protractor for the Classic Toneram 10.5i-SE
Testpilot,Why are you so angry? The only "slamming" in this thread was your tirade that brought nothing to the discussion. But thank you for telling us that apparently you're having a bad day, or are an angry man in general, or both. At worst, I c...
Mint Protractor for the Classic Toneram 10.5i-SE
Captain_winters,First off, I'm going to put my tail between my legs and admit I was wrong about the S2P distance. After re-measuring it again with great care and a friend's help, it is indeed 258 mm. I think I didn't account for the difference in ...
Mint Protractor for the Classic Toneram 10.5i-SE
Thank you both. I appreciate your responses! Interesting points about the VTA. I must say I get a headache thinking about compensating for the actual difference in thickness while listening to records after aligning with the Mint. Since the Mint i...
