Why hasnt a turntable manufacturer produced a table with automatic tonearm return/shutoff?
@larsman ….fair enough lol.   I was thinking more about the Japanese tables all of us had in the 80s and 90s; it seemed like virtually all of those now-vintage Technics tables had it.
The verdict - Burmester 232 is worth MUCH MUCH MUCH more than its price!!!
Love the comment about inability to read a room.    Like really…I thought there was a perceived max to the “self-aggrandizement” we sometimes catch a whiff of here…this one takes it to new heights.

I worked at a well-known U.S. turntable manufacturer for a few years.   (A) there was shockingly little demand/ask for it, (2) and for those that wanted it, we’d add an AudioTechnica 6006 or Tru-Lift or similar add-on unit.   We even carried them ...
Your favorite obscure song
The Monroes….What Do All The People Know (sounds like 1980’s summers)   I have the original 5-song EP on vinyl…got it decades ago but was hard to find (not from high demand I’d imagine, but from low printing volume lol).
God, I hate to ask this…
@williamjohnston Our prayers are with you.   If I may ask where you’re located?      Best, Jim
I'm a little perplexed/surprised by TMR and who sells to them.....
Jeez, WGAF?   For those for whom TMR is convenient and fair, awesome.    For those who prefer to try to maximize their return despite the hassle, awesome.   YMMV.    No big mystery here….
Selling towers - keep getting bad actors/scammers when doing local pickup only.
I know there’s a literal plethora of scams out there nowadays, but for those of us who haven’t had to sell anything online anytime recently, can you folks elaborate on some of the primary scams you’ve heard about or run into lately ? Thanks.
Your first concert was to see who and when?
Cheap Trick, year 19-whatever
??? Are Manufacturers Killing Our Hobby ???
Holy Christ this thread is like an old episode of the Twilight Zone (the Rod Serling years)…. I wanna run away from this accident scene so so badly, but I can’t look away.
What say you: Is this fair, or AITA?
They’re just pissed you sold it a year after it was removed and/or it expired…they didn’t even ask you for the selling price, they just blindly tried to charge you based on the listed ask price from a year ago.   SMH.
What say you: Is this fair, or AITA?
I say PLEASE ignore those on here telling you to send in a check (or equivalent)…don’t pay them a dime.
Is there usually a dramatic difference between $5k and $10k cartridges ?
Late to this party, but when I acquired my Lyra Etna ($10K), it sounded amazing compared to everything I had before it.   Not saying that there’s causality (high price —> superb sound), but in my case it was exactly that.
Looking for a more solid-feeling turntable (and maybe a new preamp)
About 130 lbs between the plinth, platter, and dual motor.

I have a fully modded/upgraded VPI HR-X with Superplatter & Fatboy arm if anyone’s interested, lol.
New buy, no return policy
I’ve spent a decent amount of time with Valerio Cora, the CEO of Acora…I have no doubt that his vision for Acora will keep evolving.
