What Is So Special About Harbeth?
Harbeth speakers definitely have a slight emphasis on midrange but I don't think we can characterize them as forward sounding. Other than the midrange emphasis, I find them to be very balanced. Also, as @jjss49 mentioned, there is a substantial d...

Denefrips Pontus "burn in" period?
Yep that was my experience with the Node as well as I mentioned. Coax is the limiting factor. The performance improves by another step once you get a better streamer.
Spatial M3 Sapphire or Klipsch Forte 4
@ozzy62 Do you still own the Cornwall IVs? This is one speaker that has always intrigued me. I listened to a Cornwall a few years ago, but I believe it was a prior model (can't remember if it was II or III) and wasn't much impressed. From what I u...
Denefrips Pontus "burn in" period?
I think a lot depends on the DAC's USB implementation. Maybe I'm in the minority but I've always preferred USB over spdif and definitely over toslink. But then again it could be because the DACs I've owned are better with USB, who knows. Anyways, ...
What Is So Special About Harbeth?
@chorus I thought TMR was selling B-stock that's why the prices were lower. I'm a huge fan of Harbeth as well, but I feel they are not very competitive at their current prices. I really like the P3esr, but something like a Fritz Carrera BE is much...
Denefrips Pontus "burn in" period?
@jin78 Sorry if you already mentioned it before, but how are you connecting the node to the pontus? If you haven't tried it already, can you try the usb out? I think the latest Node models now support usb out. Almost every DAC I have tried thus f...
Denefrips Pontus "burn in" period?
I don't know which Bluesound Node 2 generation the OP has, but I can tell you the coax or toslink connections on the previous gen are a limiting factor. When I was using BS with various DACs, I was having a hard time discerning differences between...
Emm Labs DV2 versus Tambaqui
I have heard @lalitk 's Merging dac at his house. As much as I like my Denafrips Terminator 2 dac, the Merging plays in a different league. I don't think the Terminator has any liabilities as such given the price, but Merging (and also MSB Referen...
Musetec (LKS) MH-DA005 DAC
@sns I agree with everything you're saying. But still it's wise to disclose such information upfront.
Emm Labs DV2 versus Tambaqui
I totally get it ... but the fact that he is a dealer is an important point and something that must be disclosed when sharing quotes from the review since there is a financial interest at play here. And like I said, it does not negate or diminishe...
Musetec (LKS) MH-DA005 DAC
Full disclosure -- the guy who wrote the head-fi review is now a Musetec dealer :)
Emm Labs DV2 versus Tambaqui
I'm assuming the head-fi review comparing the Mola Mola with Musetec is from the same guy who later became a dealer (distributor?) for Musetec? Not that there's anything wrong with it, and it certainly does not invalidate his opinion, but it's goo...
DACs and more. Is there a good analog sounding DAC.
Keep the Bluesound as your steamer. Get a better DAC, tons of options for $2k or less. The first thing you need to determine is what type of DAC implementation you want — R2R, chip (ESS, AKM, Burr Brown, FPGA, etc.), or tube-based. For under 2k, ...
Getting with the 21st century, need DAC for streaming
@chorus  Denafrips Pontus is a good starter. $1800. If you hate it they resell in seconds.  +1 on Denafrips Pontus. And he is not kidding when he says they resell in seconds. I was fortunate to buy a gently used Terminator 2 recently. What a p...
