R.I.P: Rest In Peace Roy Johnson, Green Mountain Audio's Genius The gushing responses of people who I am guessing really didnt "know" the man is what necessitates the unsavory posts. I maintain that when you screw people over this becomes part of your legacy.
R.I.P: Rest In Peace Roy Johnson, Green Mountain Audio's Genius I agree with kenjit on this.
Why do Harbeth speakers have such a cult following Certainly my favorite speakers in this line are the speaker model(s) without ports. I also favor the 2 ways due to the simpler crossovers. I agree that the Harbeths do as well on rock as they do other material. No speaker worthwhile does any type ...
Why do Harbeth speakers have such a cult following IMO Harbeth speakers, at least the ones I have heard, are easy to listen to and dont bring about the same level of fatigue as many other speakers. However this forgiveness comes at a price which is why they are not even on my "short list" of speak...
Phono Preamp It is precisely devices like preamps, DACs, etc in which small signal tubes are used that have no downside when compared to similar S.S. components. With tube amps things get a bit more complicated.

Most annoying song, period. There are so many but "Livin On A Prayer" by Bon Jovi certainly is at the top of this list as would be "Blinded By The Light" as per an earlier post.
Phono Preamp The Herron phono is also a very good suggestion, but more expensive than the EAR. For a less expensive turntable the entry level Kuzmas with arm are hard to beat.
Harbeth Super HL5+...thoughts Sorry but a speaker cant sound good on one of type of music and bad on another. So I cringe when I hear people say a speaker can do other genres of music but not rock or metal. Think about it! Now if you want a speaker that has higher SPLs or adds...
Phono Preamp For the money, the little EAR is very good. Works for either MM or MC. Benefits greatly from NOS tubes.
Pass XA25 or Pass XA 30.8 I am very familiar with your speakers, but could never bring myself to buy anything from Dale. No to tubes as these speakers really seem to thrive on current and I always thought they worked best with S.S. I owned a 30.8 for a time and liked it bu...
Does anyone have experience with Devore O/96, Tannoy Legacy Cheviot and JBL 4429? The Devore all the way! The other 2 speakers on your list are not really much to speak of IMO. The Devore hits a very good balance between fun and detail. Very easy to drive but improves with increases in power. Gives a good glimpse into the music...
Atma-sphere Updates Please give us specific examples. These examples neednt still be on this site to be heard. Did he insult some design you hold close to your heart? When you make such a claim I dont think it unreasonable for others to ask for proof or at least a di... |
