Wyred SX-1000 Mono’s or PS Audio S700 Mono’s?
I heard the PS Audio Stellar amps at RMAF.  They were not actually that bad.  Though, they were powering some Markaudio drivers in cabinets and they tend to be somewhat bright, so I'm not sure how this will sound on a conventional speaker.  The "C...
Furutech fuse
Please be aware that the Furutech rhodium fuses require a very long time to burn in (around 200-300 hours).  After 10 hours, you are already in the "painful" stage.  Keep the fuse in the preamp for another 10-15 days and then do critical listening...
Emotiva Repair
It's a matter of perspective.  I know it really sucks that all the Emotiva XPR owners out there are pretty much stuck if something goes wrong with their amp, but I can sort of understand the business model of Emotiva.  Emotiva is almost a "flavor ...
Emotiva XPR-5
Audiogon really does not support a "wanted to buy" ad.  You are most likely better off posting a WTB ad on usaudiomart or even the Emotiva Lounge (which is emotiva's forum and has an "Emporium" sub-board for buy/sell).
Can you recommend a small (in size) Amplifier 150 -250 W Power per channel
but in reality below 150-200 W does not go well Usually when people say this, it means that the speakers require a very high current amplifier. If you are moving from the big FPB250m to a small chassis Class D amp, you are likely going to have...
Best multi channel amp and processor good for 2 channel listening.
maguiar - you might like Melody Gardot.  She's one of my favorite jazz artists.  Her "Live in Olympia" bluray is one of the best sounding live recordings I have heard.

liquidy - like I said, it's really hard to describe this.  The best I can do is to say the sound is so smooth and smoothed over that it sounds like liquid.  lol

@maguiar102 - sorry, I have not examined every post in detail.  I did go back and re-read your 5/5 post.  It does become confusing because I don't know if you are intending the integrated to be part of a completely different system or if you want ...

Alternatively, if you want to keep on the "neutral" type of sound, but get something better than your Krell S-1500, you could look at things like Gryphon, Soulution, Esoteric (though Esoteric can definitely come across as somewhat sterile in some ...

I heard the latest Mark Levinson stuff at RMAF.  The Levinson is part of the very smoothed over and liquidy type of sonic signature.  It's really hard to describe to people unless they have heard this.  There are many other amps that have this sam...

Just a comment.  maguair is coming from a Krell S1000 as a processor.  I have tested the Marant 8805 in my system and compared it to my Krell S1200U.  The Marantz is a very good device with excellent bass and midrange impact.  Full and natural sou...
Krell S-1200-U - EQ not working
The Krell "bright/thin" sound is typical and it's because the power supplies in the Krell processors are undersized.  I have been able to fix this by soldering on big 10,000 uf capacitors the rectifier pins on the 3 major power supply sections (,d...
Bridging an amplifier
Hmmm, from what I understand, the concept of using a stereo amp in bridged-mono mode is really no different than a true monoblock. They both use "antiphase summing" where one amp board pushes while the other amp board pulls. They both have to use ...
Netflix audio quality playback does not compare to DVD or Blu-ray disks!
I I looked up VUDU and they use 640kbps Dolby Digital as well.  It may sound very good for streaming, but it's still not going to equal bluray.
Netflix audio quality playback does not compare to DVD or Blu-ray disks!
For reference, Dolby Digital maxes out at 640kbps.  DTS can do up to 1535 kbps.  For bluray, Dolby TrueHD averages about 6000 kpbs but can be up to 18,000 kbps.  DTS-MA can be up to 24.5 MBps (which is closer to 26,000 kbps).
